RoK city firms eye Vietnam for investment
Vietnam is included in a list of priority markets for business expansion strategies by companies from the Republic of Korea ’s Hwaseong city, according to a RoK trade representative.
Park Kenneth, a trade advisor with the Hwaseong Chamber of Commerce and Industry, who is leading a delegation of the city’s entrepreneurs on a visit to Vietnam from Oct. 19, said that the purpose of the trip is to increase exports to Vietnam , whilst seeking more business partners in the Southeast Asian country.
“We are interested in Vietnam because it is an emerging world market,” Park told a Vietnam News Agency correspondent on the sidelines of the Oct. 24 meeting with local businesses in Hanoi .
“ Vietnam ’s businesses and industries now have the demand for products and technologies that our companies can offer. We met with a number of Vietnamese partners, and we think that there are great opportunities for bilateral cooperation,” he added.
According to Park , Vietnam ’s abundant workforce and its reasonable labour costs are considered one of the reasons behind the attraction for businesses from Hwaseong.
This view was shared by Sungmoonstar Director Yun Jung Son, who spoke highly of the Vietnamese workforce, saying “Vietnamese workers are hard-working and are able to become acquainted to new technologies quickly.”
Park said Pollex Co. Ltd. and Sungmoonstar, manufacturers of construction materials and industrial machines, may open new branches in Vietnam in the near future.
While in Vietnam , the RoK businesspeople worked with partners in the midland province of Phu Tho , central Da Nang city and in Hanoi.
