Oil giant signs deals with Chinese partners
The Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) said its officials signed a series of deals with Chinese partners during their trip to China in the company of PM Nguyen Tan Dung from Oct. 20-23.
The group signed an Agreement of Strategic Cooperation with the China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), in which the two sides have committed to expanding and promoting the comprehensive cooperation between the two firms in both countries, as well as in other countries.
PetroVietnam reached two agreements in principle with the China Merchants Group to build and operate the port of Sao Mai-Ben Dinh in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau , and to invest in an oil and gas services industrial zone in the Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang .
Within the framework of the Vietnam-China business forum, the company reached a deal in principle with the XinAo Group on a joint venture to produce clean fuel in central Thanh Hoa province and another agreement with GoldStone International on the construction of a five-star hotel-office-apartment complex in Hanoi .
Officials from PetroVietnam and CNOOC expressed their satisfaction over recent projects carried out within the framework of bilateral cooperation in the Gulf of Tonkin and trilateral cooperation in the East Sea .
The two sides also agreed to expand dialogue channels in order to promote mutual understanding and to seek new mutually-beneficial opportunities to engage in other economic projects, both in their respective countries and globally.
