VN-Index advances sixth day on investor confidence
Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index jumped the most in the past three months, extending its winning streak to the sixth day on September 01 as investors were in upbeat sentiment.
The measure of 295 companies and five mutual funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange sprang 2.49 percent, or 10.58 points, to close at 424.71 points.
Of the benchmark, 189 stocks increased, 41 decreased, while 58 remained unchanged.
Trading on the city bourse slightly improved over the previous trading session as more than 50 million shares changed hands at a value of VND805 billion.
Vietnam Commercial Joint Stock Export Import Bank or Eximbank (EIB) was the most active share in volume with 3.38 million shares changing hands.
Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI), the country’s largest brokerage, took the second rank with 2.75 million shares.
Saigon Thuong Tin Commercial Bank or Sacombank (STB) followed with 2.29 million shares traded.
Biggest gainers on the city bourse included Investment and Trading of Real Estate Joint Stock Company (ITC), Lam Son Sugar Joint Stock Corporation (LSS), and Savimex Corporation (SAV).
Khang An Investment Real Estate Joint Stock Company (KAC) slumped 4.94 percent to close at VND15,400.
Vinaship Joint Stock Company (VNA) tumbled 4.82 percent to VND7,900.
Do Thanh Technology Corporation (DTT) closed down 4.76 percent to VND6,000.
The HNX-Index of the smaller bourse in the north speeded up 2.96 percent, or 2.17 points, to close at 75.36 points. Trading volume fairly dropped over the previous trading session as 53.16 million shares were traded at VND620.93 billion.
Meanwhile, the UPCoM-Index of unlisted shares revived 1.06 percent, or 0.33 points, to 31.41 points. A total of 142,500 shares changed hands at a value of VND535 million at 1:20 pm local time.
