Planting 10,000 hectares of industrial trees in Laos
The Dak Lak Rubber Company has invested more than US$30 million in planting 10,000 hectares of industrial trees in Laos’ Champasak, Salavan and Attopu provinces.
During the rainy months of 2009, the company planted more than 800 hectares of rubber in these provinces. In total, over the past five years, the company has developed more than 10,000 hectares of industrial trees, including 9,000 hectares of rubber, 700 hectares of cashew nuts, 250 hectares of coffee and 80 hectares of material forest. The company has established two arboretums in Champasak and Salavan provinces.
Before planting the trees, the company recruited many local workers and conducted training courses for them. Currently, the industrial trees are growing well.
By 2010, the company is scheduled to complete its project in Laos and build a rubber latex processing plant with an annual capacity of 10,000 tonnes. In 2011, the company will begin shipping rubber latex.
