Seminar discussed support industries in int’l integration
Vietnam’s support industries must be developed in a selective way, based on the country’s potential and strength as well as international division of labour, said Minister of Trade and Industry Vu Huy Hoang.
Addressing a national workshop in Hanoi on September 5, Mr Hoang said support industries should initially meet the target of raising local contents in major industrial products and then become part of the international production lines of multinational companies and groups.
He added that support industries need to make full use of the investment capacity of all economic sectors, especially strategic partners - multinational companies.
Minister Hoang said Japan is the leader in developing support industries. The Japanese Government pays special attention to assisting Vietnam’s support industries with many practical activities including organizing fairs.
In the coming time, he said Vietnam and Japan will focus on developing industries specializing in household electronics, audio-visual devices, office equipment, cars and motorbikes and precise mechanic products.
Delegates discussed businesses’ practical demand and proposed solutions to effectively implement the national support industries development plan approved by Government.
The seminar, the first of its kind, was jointly held by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO).
