Real estate stocks buoy market
Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index rebounded from a 32-month low on December 28 as blue-chip stocks recovered, led by real estate stocks.

The gauge for 301 companies and five mutual funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange regained 0.82 percent, or 2.86 points, to close at 350.66 points.
Among the index members, 180 increased, 63 decreased, while 63 remained unchanged.
Trading volume on the city bourse rose slightly over the previous day as 57.7 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND838 billion.
Ocean Group Joint Stock Company (OGC) was the most active share in volume with 1.84 million shares changing hands.
Na Ri Hamico Mineral Joint Stock Company (KSS) followed with 1.75 million shares.
Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MBB) tailed after with 1.74 million shares traded.
Viky Plastic Joint Stock Company (VKP) reclaimed 14.29 percent to close at VND800.
Basa Joint Stock Company (BAS) restored 9.09 percent to close at VND1,200.
South Vietnam Container Shipping Joint Stock Company (VSG) and Cadovimex Seafood Import-Export & Processing Joint Stock Company (CAD) both jumped 6.67 percent to VND1,600.
Lilama 18 Joint Stock Company (LM8) gave up 12.77 percent to VND8,200. The company will pay dividends to its current shareholders in cash at a ratio of 15 percent on January 16.
Nam Viet Joint Stock Company (NAV) collapsed 11.39 percent to finish at VND7,000. The company will pay dividends to its current shareholders in cash at a ratio of 12 percent since January 18.
Meca Vneco Investment & Electricity Construction Joint Stock Company (VES) ripped 7.14 percent to VND1,300.
Hanoi’s HNX-Index of the smaller bourse in the north rocketed 2.56 percent, or 1.45 points, to close at 58.15 points. Trading volume fell by 16 percent over the previous day to around 30.5 million shares changed hands at a value of VND249 billion.
Meanwhile, the UPCoM-Index of unlisted shares went down 0.32 percent, or 0.11 points, to 33.85 points at 2:30pm local time. More than 9 million shares changed hands at a value of VND440.46 billion.
