Nam Ngum reservoir progress
The Integrated Sustainable Water Resource Management Project for Nam Ngum Reservoir is well progress. More than 200 billion kip has been reported to spend on the Nam Ngum reservoir development over the past seven years.
This is a priority project of the government for management of water resource and nature in the Nam Ngum reservoir. Over 200 out of 222 billion kip budget or approximately 91 per cent has so far been used for Nam Ngum reservoir development project, which started in 2003 and ended in 2010.
The progress was reported at the 11 th meeting of National Steering Committee for Nam Ngum Reservoir Development Project held at the International Cooperation Training Centre, on 16 November.
The meeting was presided over by Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Mr. Sitaheng Rasphonh where drew Vice-Mayor Vientiane Bounchanh Sinthavong, and Xienkhouang Deputy Governor, Mr. Khampien Sinuanthong, Deputy Head of Nam Ngum Reservoir Development Project and other senior officials.
The participants have listened to the output implementation of the Nam Ngum reservoir Development project, the progress of integrated water resource management, meteorological and hydrological control and the promotion of agriculture and forestry.
The fund was supported by Asian Development Bank worth US$17 million, Agence Francaise de Development (AFD) of US$5.3 million, the Japan Fund for.
