Vietnamese company surveys land for planting industrial trees
A memorandum of understanding on conducting a feasibilities study into rubber tree plantation in Saychamphone district, Borikhamsay province, was signed last Thursday, October 28, at the Ministry of Planning and Investment.
If the study finds that the tree plantation by the Vietnamese company in the locality is beneficial a USD 38-40 million rubber plantation will be kicked off.
The signatories to the document were Mr. Thongmy Phommisay, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment and Mr. Tan Quang Luoc, Director of Thanh-Thanh Dat. The signing was witnessed by Governor of Bolikhamsay province, Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Ta Minh Chau, and relevant officials of both sides.
Since 1991, Thanh Thanh Dat has invested in Laos. the company has two steel and corrugated iron sheet factories in Vientiane province and one wood processing factory in Bolikhamsay province.
According to a study approved by the Ministry of Agriculture of Vietnam, Saychamphone sistrict in Borikhamsay province is suitable for planting industrial trees.
