Main rice production is on harvest
Farmers nationwide are accelerating to harvest the output of short-term rice strain and maintain long-term rice strain, which expected more than 600,000 ha of rice production in the rainy season will be harvested.
There were 647,040 ha of rainy season have been grown countrywide but 637,983 ha will be harvested. The averaged capacity production is 3.7 tonnes per hectare. The total yield of monsoon rice production expects to achieve about 2.3 million tonnes.
This was a report of Mr Sitaheng Rasphol, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry early this month.
The report briefed on general conditions of rainy season rice production entire country that farmers has currently paid attention to maintain their rice and they were harvesting the output of flood hit-rice in some part of country.
More than 500 ha of short-term rice strain and about 3,600 ha of upland rice production in some part of country has been reported to be harvested.
However, almost 10,000 ha of monsoon rice production have been reported to be hit by natural disaster.
Facing the natural disaster impact, the ministry has so far sent officials to work with local official to help hit-flood local farmers.
The cultivation of cash crops in the same period was reported to achieve more than 250,000 ha or equivalent to 54 per cent of the plan.
This year?s export of agriculture produce was noticed to be well to achieve over 6,000 tonnes and draw US$643,267 income. Most of agriculture produces of peanut, cardamom and dried tobacco leaves were exported to Thailand, USA and Vietnam.
