“Outstanding” Vietnam to host WEF East Asia Meeting 2010
The World Economic Forum (WEF) has selected Vietnam to host its East Asia Meeting 2010, terming the country as one of the “outstanding nations” in the economic recovery process.
The prestigious World Economic Forum has selected Vietnam as its regional host in 2010. It asked the Southeast Asian country to share its experiences in the rapid development of the Vietnamese business community and also in building competitiveness.
The selection was based on Vietnam’s economic development in recent years and on the country’s participation in the WEF’s current Dalian meetings at various levels.
A WEF representative announced the decision on September 11 at a press briefing in Dalian, China, site of the 2009 WEF Annual Meeting of New Champions, September 10-12.
A Vietnamese delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai is attending the Dalian meeting, which has attracted nearly 1,400 business leaders and policy makers from 86 countries and territories.
