Southern helicopter firm increases fleet
Vietnam’s Southern Service Flight Company has increased the size of its fleet with a long-range passenger transport helicopter just delivered by Eurocopter, the helicopter manufacturer said in a statement Wednesday.
The flight company, SSFC, is a leading helicopter service provider in Vietnam, providing a wide range of helicopter flights for offshore exploration, search and rescue operations and emergency medical services, according to the statement on Eurocopter website.
The statement quoted Captain Le Trong Dong, operations director from SSFC, as saying that the newly-arrived EC225 Super Puma was the first of two due to arrive before the end of the year. SSFC will then have a fleet of eight helicopters, the statement said.
“The two new EC225 helicopters will reinforce our existing helicopter fleet and allow us to intensify our activity in the booming oil and gas market in Vietnam,” Dong was quoted as saying.
SSFC belongs to the Service Flight Corporation of Vietnam (SFC VN).
SFC VN’s other subsidiary, Northern Service Flight Company, took delivery of its first long-range medium-lift passenger transport helicopter, an EC155B1 helicopter from Eurocopter, at the recent Paris Airshow in June, according to the statement. A second EC155B1, scheduled for delivery in 2010, is for search and rescue (SAR) missions, the statement said.
