Saigon Co.op to use recyclable shopping bags
Saigon Co.op will use recyclable nylon shopping bags at its Co.opMart stores next month.
The country’s leading retailer will supply 300,000 recycled-for-use bags for free in July.
Shoppers who bring the bags back to use again will get price discounts and have their names entered in a lucky draw.
In a statement last week, the retailer said it would be spending VND2.5 billion (US$140,000) on its “green” campaign to promote environmental awareness.
Metro Cash and Carry, which is primarily a wholesale supplier, began supplying recyclable bags early this year.
