Piaggio plant inaugurated in Vietnam
Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai cut the red ribbon to kick-start the operation of a Piagio plant in the northern province of Vinh Phuc on June 24.
The Italian-funded project will help Vietnam develop its support industry and increase the localisation rate in its products, said Mr Hai.
Built in October 2007 with total investment capital of US$30 million, Piaggio Vietnam is expected to churn out more than 50,000 Vespa scooters a year when it operates at full capacity.
The same day, Piaggio Vietnam launched Vespa LX 125 – the latest model - on to the market. The locally-manufactured scooter is offered at VND61.5 million.
