Vietnamese project in Laos gets underway

The construction of a cultural house costing 15.2 billion VND (roughly 850,000 USD) got underway recently in Oudomxay province in Laos, as a gift from Vietnam.

Provincial Governor Bounphon Bouttanavong, expressed his sincere thanks to the administrations and people from the three northern Vietnamese provinces of Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh and Ha Nam for the aid.

He described the project as a symbol of the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos during his speech at the ground-breaking ceremony, which coincided with a cultural festival in Laos’ four northern provinces.

Also present at the event and joining the festival were representatives from the three Vietnamese provinces and a number of representative offices in Laos.

Once completed in 2010, the two-storey project will be able to accommodate over 700 people.
