Over 800 billion VND allocated to agricultural sector

A total of 801.8 billion VND (45 million USD) from the State coffer had been invested in agriculture by April, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).

A major part of the investment, 500 billion VND, was injected in irrigation projects, representing 33.71 percent of the yearly plan, and 170.64 billion VND was pumped in agriculture development projects, or 34.61 percent.

The MARD has urged contractors to accelerate the key irrigation projects using the capital sourced from the Government bonds and ODA capital, in order to cope with the flooding and storms in 2009 and following years.
