Rice exports increase sharply
Since the beginning of the year, Vietnam has signed contracts to export nearly 4 million tonnes of rice, according to the Vietnam Food Association.
Of this figure, Vietnamese businesses have already exported nearly 2.3 million tonnes of rice, the highest level so far at this time of year.
The association said that the total volume of rice exports reached 700,000 tonnes in April, which is the largest amount since Vietnam began exporting rice, up 26.8 percent compared to the same month last year.
However, economists said that state management agencies and rice exporting enterprises should work together closely to avoid losses, which could affect food security.
