Ground breaks on Delta rice warehouse

The Viet Nam Northern Food Corporation (VINAFOOD 1) last Sunday began construction on the Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta’s largest rice warehouse and processing facility.

Located in Dong Thap Province, the facility can store up to 45,000 tonnes of rice and process 48-50 tonnes an hour.

It is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of this year.

VINAFOOD 1 invested VND152.4 billion (US$8.9 million) in the facility, which covers an area of 27,635sq.m in Lai Vung District’s Tan Duong Commune.

Nguyen Nhu Lai, chairman of the corporation, said VINAFOOD 1 was also planning to build similar facilities in other delta provinces, including An Giang and Kien Giang.
