Vietnam’s textiles increase market share in US

The market share of Vietnam’s textiles and apparels in the US rose from 3.4 percent in the first quarter of 2008 to 4.74 percent year on year, according to the US Customs’ statistics.

Vietnam is among the only four textiles and apparels exporting countries recording positive growth in 2009.

Exports to several other major markets such as Japan, the Republic of Korea, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the European Union also showed improvement in the second quarter of this year.

The sector is striving to earn more than 9.5 billion USD from exports this year with the US market accounting for more than 5 billion USD.
