US$250-million ship repair plant under construction
Construction of the US$250 million Nosco-Vinalines ship repair plant started in Yen Hung district in the northern province of Quang Ninh on April 11.
The plant will be built on a total area of 100 ha on the right bank of the Chanh river that runs through Yen Hung district.
Construction of the plant consists of two phases, with the first planned to cost US$150 million and complete by 2011, and the second phase to finish two years later.
Once completed, the plant will be capable of repairing ships with capacity ranging from 70,000 DWT to 100,000 DWT and is expected to generate jobs for 700-800 people.
