Italy business group heads to VN
The biggest Italian business delegation to ever visit Viet Nam will arrive early next month.
The group led by the Minister of Economic Development, Claudio Scajola, will also be the largest Italian business delegation to date to look for overseas business.
Italian business people representing 160 companies and enterprises will seek partnership and business opportunities at business forums in Ha Noi on November 5 and in HCM City on November 7.
Experts say that it will be a good chance for Vietnamese companies to advertise their products as well as to order products and services from Italian companies.
In a related move, an exhibition of Italian goods will be held in HCM City in mid-January.
The visit, which will run for four days from November 4, has been co-organised by the Italian Trade Bureau and banking and industry associations, according to the Italian embassy in Viet Nam.
The delegation will include people representing food processing, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, leather shoes, garments and textile, household utensils, timber products and toy production, construction materials, auto spare parts and machinery industries.
Last year, bilateral trade reached US$1.7 billion. Viet Nam’s exports to Italy were worth $1billion. The average annual trade growth rate between the two sides is between 20-32 per cent.
Italy, which has a high demand for Vietnamese coffee, aqua culture products and timber products, ranks about 30th out of the 81 countries and territories investing in Viet Nam.
In the first eight months of this year, Italy invested $114.5 million in 28 projects throughout Viet Nam.
