Fifth China-ASEAN fair opens amid world financial crisis
The fifth China-ASEAN fair opened in Nanning, Guangxi, China, on October 22, attracting the participation of more than 2,100 enterprises from China and ASEAN countries.
The event was attended by Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai and leaders of ASEAN countries.
With 3,3000 booths, the fair aims to build a unified trade bloc of the 10 ASEAN countries and China, which is believed to be stronger than 11 separate economies.
It also presents an opportunity for promoting the establishment of a China-ASEAN free trade area and serves as a venue for regional importers and manufacturers to meet and seek measures for reducing costs and stimulating consumption.
120 Vietnamese enterprises are displaying their products such as wooden furniture, fine arts items, and processed food and many other agricultural and forestry products at nearly 200 pavilions.
ASEAN is now China’s fourth largest trade partner. In the first half of this year, two-way trade revenues between China and ASEAN hit more than US$11 billion, which is higher than that between China and the US, and that between China and Japan.
