HCM City prioritises clean industries

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Planning and Investment has decided not to grant investment or business licences to potentially polluting projects in Cu Chi and Hoc Mon districts in the northwest part of the city.

The People’s Committee of Cu Chi district said the new decision would be used in industries including textiles, textile dyes, chemicals and rubber processing located in the district.

In the Tan Phu Trung Industrial Zone, also in northwestern HCM City , priorities will be given to projects that invest in clean hi-tech industries such as biotechnology, IT and others.

The Cu Chi People’s Committee has also requested the Northwest Saigon Urban Development Joint-Stock Company, the major infrastructure investor in Tan Phu Trung Industrial Zone, to complete construction of a wastewater treatment system in the zone as soon as possible.

The committee has also approved a long-term plan to connect the industrial zone’s underground drainage treatment facilities to those in HCM City ’s northwestern urban area.
