Savannakhet seeks Quang Tri’s help for rubber plantation

Officials from Laos’ Savannakhet province visited the neighbouring province of Quang Tri on Aug.18 to seek increased cooperation for rubber plantation.

The Savannakhet officials made a field trip to a rubber mill of the Quang Tri Rubber Company, which has helped Savannakhet province to develop 2,700 ha of rubber trees so far.

The Quang Tri Rubber Company plans to build a mill capable of processing 10,000 tonnes of rubber latex in Savannakhet and provide training on latex extracting and processing skills for local workers.

Savannakhet has set to increase the rubber growing area to 8,600 ha by 2010.
