Workshop on Viet Nam’s stock market held in Japan
A workshop on Viet Nam’s securities market was held for the first time in Tokyo, Japan, on October 9.
Participants agreed that Viet Nam’s securities market has much potential while saying that a legal framework should be completed soon for a sustainable development.
The workshop was jointly held by the Vietnamese Economics Research Institute in Japan, the Vietnamese Embassy and the Mitsubishi Strategic Research Institute.
Viet Nam’s securities market is formed by 200 members with listed shares worth 23 billion USD that earns close to 3 million USD from daily transactions.
To date, 240,000 transaction accounts have been opened to go along with 7,200 foreign investors accounts.
However, experts predict that the market’s capital would surge to 100 billion USD by 2010 thanks to the acceleration of bank and state-owned enterprise’s equitisation.
