VN-Index up, HaSTC-Index down
The VN-Index at the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange (HoSE) saw a slight increase after finishing the October 8 trading session at 1,084.87 points, up 3.24 points.
Binh Dinh Mining was the largest gainer on the day by adding 23,000 VND to its listed price, followed by Tay Ninh Cable Car Tour (TCT), 10,000 VND, and Tuong An Oil (TAC) with an 8,000 VND rise.
Meanwhile, Sai Gon Thuong Tin Commercial Joint Stock Bank (STB) led the market in terms of trading volume with 2.3 million shares being bought or sold.
Blue-chips, Financing and Promoting Technology (FPT), Domesco Medical Import & Export (DMC), Imexpharm Pharmaceutical (IMP), Refrigeration Electrical Engineering (REE) and Cables and Telecom Materials (SAM) all suffered the sharpest decline for the day.
The session saw 55 stocks gain, 47 others fall and 17 remain unchanged with 13.3 million shares worth 1.270 trillion VND being traded.
The HaSTC-Index in the Ha Noi Securities Trading Centre (HaSTC), however, fell 1.44 points to finish the session at 343.67 points, resulting in a rise for both trading volume and value.
Only 4.7 million shares worth 565 billion VND changed hands.
Of the 45 losers, Saigon Securities suffered the biggest loss with a 13,300 VND decline.
