VN-Index exceeds 1,100-point mark, HaSTC-Index up again
Both the Ho Chi Minh City bourse and its Ha Noi-based counterpart experienced rises by the end of the October 3 trading session.
The VN-Index at the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange (HoSE) jumped 7.12 points to break through the 1,100 point mark to close at 1,106.6 points.
The market saw 47 stocks gain, 16 stocks remain unchanged and 54 stocks fall with 14.6 million shares, worth more than 1.5 trillion VND, changing hands.
The adjustment of the VN-Index today helped stabilise the prices of low-cost stocks at the Ha Noi Securities Trading Centre (HaSTC) and balance the securities supply and demand.
By the close of trade in Ha Noi, the HaSTC rose 2.22 points to finish at 345.25 points.
However, trading volume fell as more than 5.4 million shares, worth more than 611 billion VND, changed hands.
“The prices of stocks fell but the trading volume increased sharply as experienced investors focused on buying more shares,” said Tran Dang Lam, an investor of the VNDirect securities floor in Ha Noi, noting that inexperienced investors lost 5 percent in profits if they sold Tuong An Oil (TAC), Gas Petrolimex (PGC) or other blue chips today.
Also today, the Viet Nam Securities Joint Stock Company (VSEC) became the 56th member of the HoSE.
The VSEC specialises in providing securities brokerage, financial and securities investment consultation and securities depositories.
The company plans to increase its charter capital from 9 billion VND (562,500 USD) to 135 billion VND (8.4 million USD) by the end of the year.
The FPT Securities Joint Stock Company (FPTS) announced it will introduce business performance improvement and investors relations services on its first operation day on October 10.
With a chartered capital of 200 billion VND (12.5 million USD), FPTS became a member of the HaSTC on September 6 and of the HoSE on September 13.
