Local restaurant chain eyes overseas markets
Ho Chi Minh City-based restaurant chain Wrap&Roll, which specializes in Vietnamese wraps and rolls, is looking at expanding its presence from the southern city to overseas, according to its owner, Nguyen Thi Kim Oanh.
Wrap and roll dishes refer to a combination of fresh herbs, meat and seafood wrapped in rice paper and served with a variety of Vietnamese sauces.
Wrap&Roll general director, Oanh told The Saigon Times Daily she was preparing for a trip to Australia to meet representatives of a food and beverage company and along with a franchise broker to root out a partner in the country.
Materials for Vietnamese wrap and roll dishes are readily available in Australia and the market is open to new dining experiences.
Australia is also home to about 188,000 Australian Vietnamese.
Oanh expects the first Wrap&Roll restaurant to be opened overseas next year. But the chain will wait to later this year before expanding to other cities in Vietnam.
Eight Wrap and Roll restaurants have been up and running in HCMC since 2006.
