VN-Index rises nine straight days on bullish sentiment
Stocks on Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange showed the most impressive performance in recent months on January 19, wowing investors for escalating the ninth consecutive trading session ahead of a weeklong lunar New Year holiday.

Vietnam’s benchmark, which tracks 301 companies and five mutual funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange, jumped 2.97 percent, or 10.77 points, to close at 373.43 points.
There were 207 winners, 35 losers, while 64 stocks remained unchanged on the benchmark.
Trading volume on the city bourse rose by 27 percent over the previous day as 23 million shares changed hands at a value of VND336 billion, slightly changed over the previous day.
Viet Nhat Medical Instrument Joint Stock Company (JVC) was the most active share in volume with 1.46 million shares changing hands.
Binh Thuan Hamico Mineral Joint Stock Company (KSA) tagged along with 1.11 million shares traded.
The fourth largest listed bank Saigon Thuong Tin Joint Stock Commercial Bank or Sacombank (STB) finished third with 901,580 shares.
Basa Joint Stock Company (BAS) sprang 7.69 percent to close at VND1,400.
South Vietnam Container Shipping Joint Stock Company (VSG) recovered 7.14 percent to VND1,500.
Meca Vneco Investment & Electricity Construction Joint Stock Company (VES) enhanced 6.67 percent to close at VND1,600.
Other big gainers included Binh Dinh Minerals Joint Stock Company (BMC), Binh Thuan Hamico Mineral Joint Stock Company (KSA), and National Seed Joint Stock Company (NSC).
Cuong Thuan IDICO Development Investment Corporation (CTI) declined for three straight trading sessions, closing down 4.97 percent to close at VND15,300.
SPM Joint Stock Company (SPM) went down 4.91 percent to close at VND40,700.
Chuong Duong Beverages Joint Stock Company (SCD) split 4.86 percent to finish at VND13,700.
Hanoi’s HNX-Index of the smaller bourse in the north shot up 2.08 percent, or 1.19 points, to close at 58.41 points. Around 21.98 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND162.28 billion.
The UPCoM-Index of unlisted shares enlarged 0.77 percent, or 0.26 points, to close at 33.92. More than 6 million shares was traded at more than VND300 million.
