Stocks on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange extended a losing streak to seven consecutive trading sessions, sending Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index to the lowest level since May 2009 on December 14 as investors reduced holdings to cut loss.

The measure of 302 companies and five mutual funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange dumped 1.13 percent, or 4.2 points, to close week at 367.55 points.

On the index, 57 stocks climbed, 174 dropped, while 76 remained unchanged.

Trading on the city bourse rose by 68 percent in volume, and 58 percent in value over the previous day as 58.2 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND850 billion.

Saigon Thuong Tin Joint Stock Commercial Bank or Sacombank (STB) topped the list of most active shares in volume with 2.24 million shares changing hands.

Becamex Infrastructure Development Joint Stock Company (IJC) tagged along with 1.73 million shares.

Hoang Quan Consulting - Trading - Service Real Estate Corporation (HQC) took the third rank with 1.24 million shares traded.

Vinh Son - Song Hinh Hydropower Joint Stock Company (VSH) nosedived 21.7 percent to close at VND8,300. The company will advance dividends to its current shareholders in cash at a ratio of 20 percent on December 28.

The newly listed Ben Thanh Rubber Joint Stock Company (BRC) plunged 10.94 percent to VND11,400.

Thanh Cong Textile Garment Investment Trading Joint Stock Company (TCM) went down for four straight trading sessions, giving up 10.38 percent to VND9,500.

Basa Joint Stock Company (BAS) restored 6.25 percent to close at VND1,700.

Cadovimex Seafood Import-Export & Processing Joint Stock Company (CAD) sprang 5.56 percent to VND1,900.

Vincom Joint Stock Company (VIC) edged up 5 percent to close at VND94,500.

Meanwhile, Hanoi’s HNX-Index of the smaller bourse in the north discarded 1.62 percent, or 0.98 points, to close at 59.64 points. Around 33.89 million shares changed hands at a value of VND282.32 billion.

The UPCoM-Index of unlisted shares also slid 0.2 percent, or 0.07 points, to close at 34.08 points. A total of 325,639 shares changed hands at a value of VND3.47 billion.
