Organic crops fetch 3 mln kip for sellers
More than three million kip is reportedly circulated in the Organic Agro-produce Market near That Luang’s gate every weekend, according to an official of the Agriculture and Forestry Office of Sisattanark district.
Every weekend, around 400 kilos of organic farm produce are for sale at the market.
Last month, officials of the Agriculture and Forestry Office of Sisattanark district held a meeting on the district’s agricultural production. The meeting was reported that over 600 ha of land in the district was put into agricultural production by 74 families, including 580 ha of rice fields and over 30 ha of farmland of various cash crops.
Animals, especially fish are also raised by farmers in the district. Across the district, fish is raised in over 240 cages and ponds by 11 families. The farmers reportedly earn millions of kips from selling fish to the market in which one kilo of fish costs around 20,000 kip.
The meeting also raised issues on fish import from neighbouring countries and vaccination against animal diseases in the district.
