Cement producer confirms to control cement price
The Cement Production Association has recently confirmed to retain the price of cement products despite the increased petroleum price which badly affected the cement transportation.
Mr. Inpone, Secretary General of the Cement Production Association, disclosed that the association planned to have a meeting with cement producers to discuss ways to raise the price of cement products in the future.
He said that when the fuel price has increased to 10,000 kip/litre, that would push for the consideration of the hike in order to ensure the long term impact between producers and consumers.
He added that so far the price of diesel and gasoline had increased to more than 7,000kip and 9,000, respectively, which the cement association had to closely monitor to estimate the economic impacts.
“The cement price in the market still remains the same at 710,000 kip/tonne for the green label cement and 780,000 kip/tonne for the red label cement” said Mr. Inpone.
The investors and constructors in Laos believed that the trend of investment in the Lao PDR would continue to grow over last year due to the unexpectedly quick recovery of the world economy from the economic and financial crisis.
This will be the main factor to push the Lao economy.
Mr. Inpone concluded that owing to the above-mentioned situation, the sectors that would serve as the driving force of the economy would include hydropower, mining, construction of infrastructure and accommodation.
