Local company to invest in Se Lanong hydropower construction
A local investor Simeuang Group Company Ltd has decided to invest over 370 million kip in a survey and feasibility study on the construction of a 5MW hydropower dam along the Se Lanong river, Nong district, Savannakhet province.
Savannakhet province has granted license to the Group to do a feasibility study on the Se Lanong hydropower construction.
The study will take into account of finance, technique and environmental impact, which are information for an economic analysis for the construction project and will serve as reference for the investment in the construction of the dam.
Mr Sithon Nanthalath, Head of the Planning and Investment Service of Savannakhet province, said that this project would bring vast benefits to Nong district and districts nearby if it is feasible.
Besides, we will further conduct a survey and study to bring water from Se Lanong river to use in Phine district and along the Road No 9, which is necessary for development, he went on.
Mr Ekaphanh Phaphithak, President of the Simeuang Group Company Ltd., said that our company had a lot of experiences in the investment in dam construction. This will be the third dam after those in Borikhamsay and Sayaboury provinces.
As for the study on Se Lanong hydropower dam, the company will conduct a study on two areas of Tang Eun village and Keng Linh villages which are highly potential for the construction.
The study will take two years at an estimate of 372 million kip. The dam is designed to generate about 5 to 10 MW, added Mr Ekaphanh.
A memorandum of understanding on the project was signed in Savannakhet province, on January 7 in the presence of Savannakhet Deputy Governor, Mr. Souphanh Keomisay and Deputy Chief of Nong district, Mr. Bountheng Keobounheuang and relevant officials.
