Vietnam businesses form new “coffee clutch”

The Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association (VCCA) debuted a new club for leading coffee exporters on August 21.

The club comprises 20 businesses whose export turnover accounts for 80 percent of the country’s total export value.

The club aims to help businesses to exchange information to improve the quality and price of coffee as well as to strengthen co-operation in exporting coffee.

The VCCA said that Vietnamese coffee’s output in the 2009-2010 crop season will shrink by 15-20 percent because 20 percent of coffee trees are old and stunted and farmers pour less investment into production due to the unfavourable economic climate.
