Asia Commercial posts pretax profit of $78.6 million

Asia Commercial Bank, Vietnam’s third-biggest listed company by market value, posted a pretax profit of VND1.4 trillion (US$78.6 million) for the first seven months of the year.

Total assets exceeded VND147 trillion as of July 31, according to an e-mailed statement from the Ho Chi Minh City-based company Monday. The bank didn’t provide year-earlier figures, and Chief Executive Officer Ly Xuan Hai wasn’t immediately available to comment.

Outstanding loans at ACB, 15 percent owned by Standard Chartered Plc, reached almost VND51.4 trillion in the period, and deposits totaled VND109 trillion.

Shares of ACB fell for the first time in four days, trimming 1.3 percent to close at VND47,100 on the Hanoi Stock Exchange Monday.
