HCMC to help Nha Be Industrial Park through power cut
The Ho Minh City Power Company is coming to the rescue to prevent a power outage at Hiep Phuoc Industrial Park next week during a major power line upgrade.
Hiep Phuoc Power Company, the sole electricity provider to the Hiep Phuoc Industrial Park in Nha Be District, last week announced it would cut power at the park from 4 a.m. to 6 p.m. on July 25, 26 and 27 and on the morning of July 28 while Electricity of Vietnam constructs a 220 kilovolt line in the district, the company said.
The announcement has infuriated businesses in the park, who fear the load shedding would cause them a total loss of around US$9 million.
Speaking at a meeting yesterday, Le Hoang Quan, chairman of the city’s People’s Committee, said the municipal administration would not tolerate a power cut at the park and instructed the HCMC Power Company to bridge the gap in supply.
The city power company said at the meeting that it has worked with Load Dispatch Center 4 to upgrade a power line in Nha Be District so that it could supply the park while Hiep Phuoc Power Company halts supply.
The company said it would be ready Thursday, two days ahead of the scheduled power cut.
Chairman Quan reassured the Saigon Premier Container Terminal (SPCT) Company saying they should continue construction of their $366- million port project to meet the deadline in November.
SPCT said it was concerned about a possible outage because it would delay port construction, with a possible loss of $500,000.
Nguyen Xuan Han, General Director of Hiep Phuoc Industrial Park, said he had received more than 50 complaints from businesses about the announced blackout.
