Seminar discusses financial implications for Vietnam

The Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and Administration held a seminar in Hanoi on June 25 to assess the current global economic crisis and its impact on Vietnam.

More than 40 political and economic analysts discussed the possible trends of economic decline and development during the current crisis as well as implications for Vietnam.

They proposed measures to combat similar situations in the future and how institutions should respond to a crisis.

Participants in the seminar emphasized the need for research to understand the contradictions, imbalances and incompatibilities of a national economic structure or a development model elsewhere.

They agreed that the current crisis will have a long-term impact on the Vietnamese economy in many areas. They also came up with a number of solutions to help the country’s socialist-oriented market economy deal with challenges arising from the current crisis more effectively.
