Catfish exports to reach US$1.3 billion
Tra fish exports to Russia reached more than 5,000 tonnes in the first half of this year, half of the projected target for the first seven months.
According to Duong Ngoc Minh, head of the steering board for Tra fish exports to Russia, the country has sent delegations to Vietnam to order more fish from the country. This means Vietnam is likely to export more than 2,000 tonnes of catfish above its original target by the end of July.
He predicted that the catfish exports will further increase as from August and reach US$1.3 billion by the end of 2009 as there will be large demands from the Eastern European, African and other markets.
