Lilama signs power plant contracts with Torishima, Areva

Japan’s Torishima and Singapore’s Areva will provide a combined US$60 million worth of equipment to Vietnam Machinery Installation Corp., known as Lilama, for the Nhon Trach 2 Power Plant.

Torishima will supply $55 million of petroleum and gas pumping, cooling, water and sewage-treatment systems, Hanoi-based Lilama said in a statement on its website Tuesday.

Areva will provide electricity controlling and transmission equipment under a $4.6 million contract.

Lilama anticipates construction of the 750- megawatt power plant in the southern province of Dong Nai will be completed within 30 months.

While the government has asked Lilama to start construction by the end of this month, the corporation has yet to say when it will begin.
