Vietnam maintains competitiveness for economic growth

The annual meeting of the Asian Competition Forum (ACF) took place in Hanoi on May 26 to discuss the effects of Anti-competitive Activities in Small and Developing Economies.

Specialists at the event analysed burning and practical issues facing these economies such as domestic monopoly, agreements that impede domestic competition, the implementation of laws on competition, and the practice of cross-national merger and acquisition (M & A).

Addressing the meeting, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Le Dang Vinh stressed that maintaining a competitive climate will boost the development of the Vietnamese economy, benefiting many enterprises and consumers, and laying equal legal foundations for businesses from all sectors.

Mr Vinh added that under its competition law, Vietnam has two related agencies – the Competition Management Department and the Competition Council. The first agency deals with unhealthy competition practices while the second handles anti-competitive activities.
