Shoemakers may relocate to Indonesia
Shoemakers from China, Vietnam and South Korea may relocate 23 factories to Indonesia this year, investing as much as US$700 million, Investor Daily Indonesia reported.
The investors are attracted to Indonesia’s relatively stable business climate and the potential of its market, the report said, citing Edy Widjanarko, chairman of the Indonesian shoe association.
The relocation may create 160,000 jobs, the report said. Still, the move is pending the availability of power supply for the plants.
