InterContinental appoints new regional manager
InterContinental Hotels Group has named Philip Riley the new regional general manager for Vietnam, responsible for overseeing the group’s operations and expansion in the Southeast Asian nation.
The hotel group has the InterContinental Hanoi Westlake in Hanoi and is planning to open the InterContinental Asiana Saigon in Ho Chi Minh City in September.
Riley, who has more than 20 years experience in hotel management, will manage the InterContinental Asiana Saigon’s 305-room hotel and the adjacent 260-suite residential tower, as well as oversee the group’s plans for eight more hotels in Vietnam.
Prior to assuming his current role, Riley was the InterContinental Hotel Group’s regional general manager for Western Australian/Northern Territory, Malaysia and the Philippines, the hotel group said on Saturday.
“We are excited by the opportunities that Vietnam offers us,” Riley said. “As a bustling country known as a safe destination with a beautiful indigenous culture, Vietnam has huge potential as a destination for both business and leisure tourists from around the world.”
Located in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City's consular and commercial district, the InterContinental Hotel Group said the InterContinental Asiana Saigon will cater for business travelers, host corporate and social events and offer a new standard in residential living for tenants of the residential tower.
