E-commerce to facilitate Vietnam’s exports to US
Applying e-commerce to support Vietnam’s exports to the US market was high on the agenda of a seminar organised in central Danang city on May 19.
Exporters from the central and the Central Highlands regions were updated with the latest information on the US market, Vietnam-US import-export activities, and the country’s trade promotion programmes in 2009.
They were also taught how to take full advantage of the US customs’ online bill of lading system to search for US importers.
Participants examined impacts of the world economic downturn, particularly the US’s financial crisis, on Vietnamese exporters. They also discussed opportunities and challenges, as well as strategies for export businesses amid the global financial crisis.
According to the VCCI, e-commerce is seen as a useful tool and innovative new direction for Vietnamese businesses to expand export markets, including the highly potential US outlet.
At the seminar, a presentation on the waybill service TradeFax by the OSB Technology and Investment Joint Stock Company provided participants with information about the US’s import bills of lading database.
The seminar was co-hosted by the VCCI’s Institute of Information Technology for Businesses and Danang’s Information and Communications Department.
It drew the participation of representatives from the VCCI, the America Market and Trade Promotion Departments under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the General Customs Department, and businesses in the central and Central Highlands regions.
