Last turbine of Nhon Trach power plant joins national grid
The only steam turbine and also the last of the total three turbines at the Nhon Trach 1 Power Plant in Dong Nai province officially generated electricity to the national grid on April 22.
Earlier, the first and second gas turbines at the plant had officially joined the national grid on last June 30 and August 26 respectively.
Each turbine has a capacity of 150MW. With all three turbines putting into operation, the Nhon Trach 1 Power Plant is now operating at its full-design capacity of 450MW, generating over 2.5 billion KWh annually to the national grid.
Construction of the plant was kicked off in March 2007. The plant is invested by the Petrovietnam Power Corporation, a subsidiary of the National Oil and Gas Group. Lilama and Construction Corporation No 1 act as the EPC contractor of the project.
The full operation of the plant is expected to ease power shortage for Vietnam, especially in the dry season.
