Seminar on competition law opens in Da Nang
A seminar on competition law and policy was held in central Da Nang city on March 10.
Representatives from the US Federal Trade Commission (USFTC), the US Department of Justice (USDOJ), the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and local businesses attended the event.
Participants at the seminar gave a general overview of the regulations and institutions listed in Vietnam’s competition laws, and made a number of recommendations regarding the issue.
Experts from USAID and USDOJ discussed methods to raise the awareness of businesses other agencies and organisations regarding competition legislation, and answered questions related to the issue.
Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Le Danh Vinh said that the Competition Law was promulgated in December 2004 and came into effect as from July 2005. However, the business community and even some state management authorities are still vague regarding its content.
The seminar provided businesses with a full and thorough knowledge of the competition law and related policies in order to forestall any unexpected violations of the law and to protect their legitimate rights./.
