HCMC electronic market moves to new location
Nhat Tao, Ho Chi Minh City’s largest electronics market, moved Friday to a new location not far from the original one, which will be closed in the new year.
It now occupies several floors of an apartment block in Nguyen Kim Street, District 10.
Nguyen Thi Hanh, director of the District 10 House Management and Investment Service Company which owns the market, said the center, with its more modern environment, would better serve its customers.
The state-owned company spent VND4 billion (US$235,000) on the new premises, whose 1,240-squaremeter area houses 175 stalls selling electrical and electronic components and products.
Nhat Tao Market used to be located on Nguyen Kim, Nhat Tao, Ly Nam De and Ly Thuong Kiet streets for more than 20 years.
Its closure is part of a new zoning plan for the area, with authorities saying that the deteriorated structure of the market is a threat to safety and the environment.
