Jetstar Pacific switches to the Airbus A320
Vietnam’s budget airline Jetstar Pacific released its first Airbus A320 aircraft into domestic service on Thursday.
The airline’s transition to a new fleet type demonstrates its continued growth since first commencing services in May 2008, airline officials said.
The aircraft will seat 180 passengers in a single class, and will predominantly service the busy Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City corridor.
Jetstar Pacific Chief Executive Officer Luong Hoai Nam said the new aircraft would support Jetstar Pacific’s recently announced domestic expansion over the Lunar New Year festival (Tet), boosting capacity by 40 percent.
The airline fleet now includes five Boeing 737-400s and one Airbus A320, servicing a total of eight Vietnamese destinations.
Jetstar Pacific recently announced a new domestic route - Hanoi to Can Tho – that it will begin servicing on January 3, 2009.
