US, Vietnamese quality-testing labs enter into tie-up
A Vietnamese quality-testing organization and US independent certification organization Underwriters Laboratories (UL) will recognize each other’s testing results, according to an agreement they signed Monday.
Sajeev Jesudas, UL’s president, said the agreement signed with the state-run Quality Assurance and Testing Center 3 (Quatest 3) would provide a boost to international trade by allowing both organizations to respond effectively to Vietnamese manufacturers who intend to export their products to overseas markets and international businesses to sell their products in Vietnam.
UL, which owns 62 laboratories and testing and certification facilities and certified 21 billion items sold by businesses worldwide last year, also announced the opening of a representative office in Ho Chi Minh City.
Quatest 3, a unit of the Science-Technological Organization of M Directorate for Standards and Quality, is also recognized as a conformity assessment body for businesses exporting electrical and electronic products to Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines.
