HCM City: Industrial production up

Industrial production in Ho Chi Minh City increased some 12.8 percent year on year to almost 122 trillion VND in the first nine months of 2008.

This outcome ist mainly due to the successful foreign economic sector which registered a growth rate of 16.7 percent while the domestic economic sector grew 9.8 percent.

Value added revenues in industrial production exceeded 36 trillion VND, representing an increase of 10.3 percent.

The four major industries namely mechanical engineering, electronics-information technology, chemistry, rubber-plastics and food processing, attained a total revenue of almost 70 trillion VND or an average growth rate of 13.2 percent. Among them, the electronics-information technology took a lead at 38.4 percent.
