Step up anti-fraud campaign, ministry says

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has called for greater efforts to check, prevent and punish fraudulent activities in gasoline trade, fertilizers and other agricultural materials.

In an instruction issued Saturday, the ministry said gasoline stations guilty of fraud would have their business certification withdrawn, or legal proceedings launched against them.

Retailers and distributors of gasoline, and traders in fertilizers and agricultural materials will have to ensure their activities allow for control of product quality and volume at all stages - import, processing and distribution; and make it easier to prevent fake or unqualified products from infiltrating the market.

The instruction tasks relevant agencies with mapping out specific plans to inspect gas stations and strengthen surveillance of the industries to detect trade in fake or unqualified fertilizers and agricultural materials, and violations in labeling.
