Businesses buy 660,000 tons of rice

Vietnamese businesses bought 660,000 tons of rice from January 1 to September 15 this year, according to the Vietnam Food Association.

At present, un-husked rice can sell for as much as VND3,800-4,500 (US$0.23-0.25) per kilogram here. The prices of 5-25 percent broken rice is VND5,100-5,800 ($0.31-0.36) per kilogram.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Mekong Delta’s 3.8 million hectares of rice paddy have produced nearly 20.3 million tons of rice this year, up by 124,000 hectares and over 1.6 million tons on last year.
